VSOC For Stella Moonwalk
Dear VSOC Members and Friends,

As you are all aware, either via Clatter or personally, the club has recently lost a wonderful lady, Stella Clark (C4), who finally succumbed to breast cancer at the tender age of 49. Stella, together Stella Clarkwith her husband Tony, was an active member of the club and her huge smile and positive outlook will be greatly missed. As such, and with Tony’s consent, I would like to suggest that you (and your friends / family / colleagues) join me in a fitting tribute to Stella, by participating in or supporting a team, “VSOC For Stella” in The London Moonwalk. All proceeds go to breast cancer charities.

The London Moonwalk is a huge annual event and is breast cancer’s biggest fund raiser. Next year it will be held overnight on the Sat 10 / Sun 11 May 2014.  It is a sponsored power walk and you can do either the half moon (13 miles) or the full moon (26 miles). Last year I joined 18,000 walkers, male and female, all walking through London in decorated bras. It is very emotional as many are walking in remembrance of lost loved ones. But it is also fun and very rewarding. The link below gives more details. Please scroll down the page and watch the You Tube clip, The Moonwalk London 2013, on this site (turn on sound) to get an idea of what it’s all about:   http://www.walkthewalk.org/Challenges/TheMoonWalkLondon   If walking 13 or 26 miles is too much, thousands of volunteers are required (they are the ones in yellow) to assist and marshall the event. And if you can’t make it, then your support and sponsorship will be wonderful.   The web entry page doesn’t open until 31st October so I would initially just like to get an idea as to numbers.

Please email me on sandra.lloyd@onetel.net if you are interested in walking or volunteering.

Thank you all,   Sandy Lloyd C7
